Our Programs

VCMH is committed to proving psychological therapy and group treatment programs founded on evidence-based practice.

Adult DBT

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based, practical, skills-focused form of therapy. DBT involves both group and individual sessions, on a weekly basis, and aims to teach participants skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. A full DBT program lasts for 48 weeks, but a participant does not need to complete it all at once if they prefer.

Adolescent DBT

This content is mostly the same as in an Adult DBT group, adapted to suit better to a younger audience. The age cut off for the adolescent group is 18. A caregiver of the adolescent is also expected to attend the group, so that they can also learn the skills to help with practice at home. A full program lasts for 35 weeks.

Behavioural Activation Therapy for Depression

Behavioural Activation Therapy (BAT) is an action-oriented, collaborative treatment. This program seeks to address a lack of positive experiences, avoidance and impairments in managing rumination as significant contributors to what keep an individual depressed. The BAT protocol is completed over 13 weeks.

Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a specific type of cognitive behavioural therapy that helps patients learn to modify and challenge unhelpful beliefs relating to their trauma. In so doing, one can create a new understanding of the traumatic event so that it reduces its ongoing negative effects on their current life. CPT involves 12 weeks of content.
